NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING

Dye Penetrant Testing

Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT), also known as Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI), is a widely used non-destructive testing method for detecting surface-breaking defects in non-porous materials. The process involves applying a liquid penetrant to the surface of the test object, allowing it to seep into any cracks or defects. After a suitable dwell time, the excess penetrant is removed, and a developer is applied to draw out the penetrant trapped in defects, creating visible indications under appropriate lighting. DPT is effective for identifying surface flaws in metals, ceramics, plastics, and other materials, making it essential in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing for ensuring the integrity and safety of components.
